Data Collection & Scanning

Tracking assets and collecting data by means of traditional paper forms such as hand written notes often means the collected data will later have to be entered into a computer system, resulting in redundant and potentially inaccurate transcriptions. By implementing a barcode scanning or RFID automation system, you eliminate the inefficient, inaccurate process for costly and redundant transcription of paper forms. This process change will dramatically improve the integrity of your data and the value of your business software applications.

Barcode Scanners
Barcode scanners act like an optical Morse code device. Barcodes are read by a projected laser beam scanning back and forth across the bars and spaces of the printed barcode image. Black line markings of the barcode absorb light while the white lines reflect it. As the image is scanned, the scanner decodes the data and stores it or sends it to a software application.

Laser Scanners
Currently, most industries use laser scanners for decoding barcodes. As one of the most popular technologies, laser scanners offer user friendly operation, depending on the bar code and scanner configuration, the laser can scan bar codes from two to three inches up to 30-35 feet. Laser scanners are offered in various forms to fit a process including hand held and fixed position.

Imaging Readers
Imaging readers are the newest generation of barcode decoders. The bar codes are read using a video like technology a contrast to traditional scanning technology. There are a few benefits to using an imager. For example, it is accurate and efficient when collecting low resolution images. Additionally, it can be utilized for deciphering two dimensional (2D) barcodes such as Data Matrix, Maxi Code, and PDF417.

RFID
This emerging technology differs from traditional bar code scanning as it is not an optical technology. RFID incorporates radio waves at different frequencies to enable automated tracking and data collection of RFID tagged/labeled items without line of sight.

Hand Held Terminals with Integrated Scanners
In either a batch or wireless environment, portable data terminals are the preferred method for capturing data in an increasing number of applications. The technologies of today's terminals are built for durability, portability, and flexibility. For ease of use, these mobile devices work from a number of platforms including the Microsoft operating system.  When considering all of the technological factors, selecting the best terminal or handheld computer for the current and expanded application can be a daunting task and an unnecessary ordeal . . . iTech Automation integrates terminals and handheld computers into both existing networks and wireless infrastructures.

Batch
Batch terminals collect & store data until it is uploaded to an application.

RF or Wireless
Terminals with wireless capabilities make it easy to conduct real time transactions. Radio frequency (RF) and wireless technologies have the ability to operate from a variety of a web based applications and terminal emulations.

Cellular
Recent advances in cellular devices and technology allow data collection applications to operate across cellular networks, enabling wireless networks to extend through North America.
